Pointe Du Hoc VI


Pictured below is a German casemate devastated by direct hits that would have held a 155 mm artillery piece. The area is unchanged since that June morning over 60 years ago and has many casemates, pillboxes and other strongholds. I wonder what it was like for a soldier to withstand this type of bombardment that saw over 10,000 tons of TNT dropped on this area. Dave stands in the unlucky casemate and looks at the debris on the other side of the former German position.
