V. Erin and Margaret (Doug's Daughters)
Erin
Margaret
On Sunday November 2, 2008, my daughter Margaret was in her first New York City Marathon and finished in 4 hours 57 minutes 54 seconds. Margaret ran this race in honor of Anthony Insogna, the father of one of her closest friends, who sadly died from cancer last year. With matching funds from corporations a total of $7,380 was raised and will be donated to Girls Inc. of the Greater Capital Region's Sports programs and teen college prep programs in honor of Anthony Insogna. Thanks to all that contributed!
- 1. Marathon runners going up 1st Avenue at 75th East Street. Over 39,000 people entered the marathon and almost 99% finished.
- 2. At 59th Street, just before entering the finish line in Central Park at the Tavern on the Green, Margaret runs past well wishers. All along the route were bands, DJs playing music and a carnival atomspere. Over half of the runners were not Americans, as we met people from France, England, Germany and the Netherlands who were there to cheer on family and friends.
- 3. My brother Dave, my daughter Erin, myself and Margaret's boyfriend Larry Hodges meet Maggie after finishing the NYC Marathon. The next morning Margaret and Larry went to the Tavern on the Green to get her name and time engraved on the metal she recieved. After that Larry took Margaret to a bridal path in Central Park and standing next to a tree with a heart chiseled in the bark, asked her to marry him. She said yes!
- 4. New York, Fall 2008, Margaret's big day. A Marathon, a party and an announcement,
