Utah Beach

The landings at Utah Beach were quite different from that at "Bloody Omaha". Because of the airborne support from the 82nd and the 101st Divisions nearby and the succesfully landing of Duplex Drive tanks, only 197 casualties were suffered at Utah. The men from the 4th Infantry Division, led by General Teddy Roosevelt Jr. (son of the former President) soon struck inland to link up with the airborne soldiers who had landed hours earlier. By the end of the day, 20,000 troops along with 1,700 vehicles had come ashore. At Omaha Beach over 40,000 Americans landed there. Below are the beaches 60 years after the invasion.
