On 19 September 1944 Captain Thomas A. Norwood, Co A 326th Engineer Battalion with A. Oomen on the bridge over the Zuid Willemsvart canal at Veghel. Oomen and his student from a technical section helped the engineers enlarging the bridge. Tom Norwood was seriously wounded on September 23rd and died as the result of the wounds
